
Helene Hardy Pierce is Vice President of Technical Services, Codes, and Industry Relations for GAF Materials Corporation (GAFMC) in Wayne, NJ. She received her B.S. in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology in 1983.
Helene has spent most of her professional career within the roofing industry. Helene was recognized for her service to her field in 1998 when she received the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Award of Merit and title of Fellow from the ASTM Committee on Roofing, Waterproofing and Bituminous Materials. Helene served on the Board of Directors for ASTM from 1999-2002 and then on ASTM’s Executive Board as Chairman of the Finance and Audit Committee in 2003. In 1999, she was awarded the James O. McCawley Award from the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association for service to the roofing industry. In 2005, she was awarded the title of Fellow of the Institute by the Roof Consultants Institute for contributions to the advancement of the roofing industry and an Award of Appreciation from ASTM for contributions to Committee D08.
Among the many groups in which she is active are ASTM International, the Roof Consultants Institute (RCI); RCI Foundation Board of Directors; Asphalt Roofing Manufacturer Association (ARMA), past chair of the Built-Up Roofing Committee and Chair of the Steep Slope Committee; Single Ply Roofing Institute (SPRI), 2 term Technical Committee Chair, Board of Directors, and President; Roofing Industry Educational Institute (RIEI) faculty member; and the Cool Roofs Rating Council (CRRC), Interim Board Vice Chair, and Vice Chair of the Board. Helene has also been active in Rebuilding Together (formerly known as Christmas in April), serving with her husband as House Captains.
